Momentum
Privacy-first habit tracker
A habit tracker that works without an account, cloud or ads, keeping your habits, streaks and notes only on your phone.

Momentum is a habit tracking app that keeps personal data entirely on the user's phone. No account, no sign-up, no cloud, no ads. I, Berke Özyaşar, built this app as a personal project and published it on Google Play.
The approach
Most habit apps ask users to create an account and send records of their daily lives to a server. In Momentum, nothing you write is uploaded anywhere, because there is no server to upload it to. There is a trade-off: if the app is deleted, the data goes with it. Instead of hiding this trade-off, I stated it clearly in the app's description.
What you can do
- Create and check off habits; set how many times a day counts as complete and which days a habit applies to
- Current streak, best streak, completion rate, weekly and all-time views
- A separate emoji and color for each habit, so the list can be read at a glance
- Reminders and notes
Technical approach
I built the app with React Native; all data is kept in local storage on the device. Since there is no server, the app works without a network connection and there is no personal data processing burden. Since there is no account, the app is ready to use the moment it first opens; no sign-up form, email verification or permission prompts to deal with. I kept the statistics screens simple, enough to understand where you stand without turning life into a dashboard.
I also use the keep-data-on-device approach in business apps; for example, Şantiyepro runs on an offline-first architecture. For a privacy-focused or offline-capable app, take a look at the mobile app development page.
Status
Momentum is live on Google Play for Android.
