H.O.G. İzmir Chapter

H.O.G. İzmir Chapter is the official mobile app built exclusively for members of the Harley Owners Group İzmir Chapter. It brings the club's rides, communication between members and event memories together in one app. I, Berke Özyaşar, developed this app for our client H.O.G. İzmir Chapter; it is live on iOS and Android.

The need

In a motorcycle club, ride plans, routes, rest stops and announcements tend to get lost in messaging groups. Who is where during a ride, and how many kilometers were covered, doesn't get recorded either. The app was designed to tidy up that scatter and strengthen members' connection with the club.

Features

• Rides: view and join planned rides; explore the route on a map; see start, rest and finish points in advance
• Live location: the route is recorded during the ride
• Stats: total and personal kilometer tracking
• Communication: instant chat with members, ride-specific group chats, announcements and notifications
• Photos: a gallery for sharing ride and event photos
• Badges: achievements earned by joining rides and hitting kilometer goals
• Profile: manage personal and motorcycle details

Technical approach

I developed the app with React Native from a single codebase for both platforms. Since maps, live location and chat all come together in one app, one of the areas that needed care was making location recording during a ride work consistently under changing connection conditions. Chat and notifications were tied to rides, connecting them to how the club actually runs. The app is published under the developer accounts of the company representing the club.

Status

H.O.G. İzmir Chapter has been on the App Store since June 4, 2026, and is also live on Google Play (announcement). If you are considering an app for a community, club or events, take a look at mobile app development or get in touch with me.
