MetroVerse
Procedural metro simulation
An Android simulation game where you build metro lines on maps in which every seed generates a unique city.

MetroVerse is a transit simulation game where you build a metro network in procedurally generated cities. Every seed value creates a unique world with its own oceans, rivers, mountains, parks and urban districts. I, Berke Özyaşar, built the game with React Native as a personal project and published it on Google Play.
The game
The goal is to build an efficient network that carries passengers between stations in a growing city. Players enter a seed or let the game generate a random one. Because the same seed always produces the same map, friends can play the same city and compare results. To build a metro line, you just drag from one station to another; no complicated menus.
Features
- Procedural worlds: shareable city maps generated from a seed value
- Intuitive controls: drag to build lines, pan and zoom
- Train management: adding trains to lines; speed, capacity and station size upgrades; an upgrade that adds a second carriage to each train
- Water crossings: trains cross water with a tunnel effect
- Passenger system: passengers pile up at stations waiting to be carried
Technical approach
I built the game on React Native, without a game engine. Map generation is tied to the seed and runs deterministically, so the same seed gives the same city every time and maps can be shared. Seeing that React Native works not only for business apps but also for interactive projects like this was the most instructive part of the project for me.
My other games built with React Native are Block Forge and Airborne Aviator. The game's landing page is at sberke.com/metroverse. For mobile projects, take a look at the mobile app development page.
Status
MetroVerse is live on Google Play for Android.
